CAROLINA KENNEL CLUB TO CELEBRATE AKC
RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP DAY

-- Greensboro, NC Residents to Participate in Nationwide
Celebration This September --

GREENSBORO, NC, August 25,2008The Carolina Kennel Club announced today that it will be celebrating AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day (RDO Day) on September 6, 2008. This goal of this initiative, supported by the American Kennel Club®, is to educate first-time dog owners about the responsibilities of dog ownership and help current owners enhance their relationships with their pets.

This year’s event will be held Saturday, September 6 from 10 to 4 at Lindley Park adjacent to the Arboretum.  It will feature a FREE Rabies Clinic from 10 to 1.  Demonstrations such as basic obedience, fly ball, a K-9 Police Unit, and other activities are tentatively scheduled from 10-1.  The Red Cross will have first aid information for dogs and there will be information on the AKC Canine Good Citizenship certification.  Attendees will have an opportunity to enter contests with their own dog beginning at 1PM, meet various purebred rescue groups as well as meet Ember, a Dalmatian “fire dog” from the Greensboro Fire Department and his handler, Flame.

AKC RDO Day is a month-long celebration that involves hundreds of organizations around the country holding free events filled with fun and engaging activities every dog owner can enjoy.
